Great tree, great sketch, great memories Ian

Thanks Heather. Too cold to stand there today, but I have loads of resources from my "travels".

Excellent sketching Ian.

I also remember climbing inside, and picnicking beneath its canopy for many years. It looks just as magnificent Ian, great sketch and all the better for leaving out the supports…..old boys sometimes need their aids!

Excellent sketch if this fabulous old tree Ian .

A fabulous old tree Ian, and a delightful drawing capturing all its personality.

What a tree, and so well drawn. Love the story that goes with it.

A great story, Ian and a super sketch!

#Sketchbook. The Major Oak aka Robin Hood’s Tree. Between 800 – 1100 yrs old. Too cold to stand there today. Loads of resources from my travels tho. I left the branch’s supports out, bless her. Me & big sister used to climb inside with our bicycles. Cynics say tree is too young for Robin Hood. WRONG. Robin was 14th century. NOT a Crusader. Sir Walter Scott made that up. Chaucer mentions Robin. Also Shakespeare later on. Henry 8Th used to dress up like him and jump out on his guests.
