‘Polythene Pam’ was written by John Lennon whilst the Beatles were in India in 1968. It was recorded on their album ‘Abbey Road’, in 1969. In 1980 Lennon said about ‘Polythene Pam’ that when he and a friend had taken a couple of girls out one was dressed in polythene. It was also said that the song came from the nickname of an early Beatles fan from the Cavern Club named Pat Hodgett who would often eat polythene screwed up in small balls. The song is linked to another song, ‘Mr Mustard’ musically as both songs are on the same track without a pause and that ‘Mr Mustard’ refers to his sister, Pam.

Nicely done Spencer , I love the way you've captured the folds and creases.

Always interesting to read your commentary and it's a good painting too

Makes me smile. Well painted.

Excellent work. Very good control of w.c. I'm not familiar with this particular title. I guess I just overlooked it, 'Cause I have that album.

Nicely done Spencer, three excellent pictures.

How interesting Spencer.

Great narrative and you have certainly captured the essence of the song Spencer.

I like your interpretation of the song Spencer. The folds and creases are really well painted.

Loving all the folds of the garment, and the backstory to your painting. Always of interest, Spencer. You've tackled this with your usual flair.

Very interesting to read Spencer. Her coat with all its folds is amazing.

Superb painting Spencer, such fine attention to detail.

That’s a super Polythene Pam Spencer, and interesting information on her identity.

Really well done Spencer, the creases in the polythene great!

My interpretation of the Beatles song of the same name. Painted in watercolour on A4 300gsm paper. See above for further information on the development of the song.
