Very effective - a work that needed, and indeed received, some careful planning. He looks like - I don't know - a liberated, tolerant sort of lion, not one to be bound by convention... it's the wavy mane that does it...

A great big thank you to all of you for your very positive comments. The planning and drawing out of the design is probably more time consuming than the painting of it. It’s a style that I’m going to run with for a while and try to blend it with my stained glass style.

My windswept lion was quite difficult to draw up as I wanted to maintain sufficient negative space between the patches of colour. Again I minimalised the use of colour to shades of brown.
