Lovely exercise, turned out great.

Beautiful, Hazel. A great success!

What a lovely, simple and beautifully executed painting. I agree about Langton Prestige - my favourite paper I have to say, although I have been using the ordinary Langton on 300lbs weight which is also very good..

Donkeys are such a great shape to paint, love the touches of blue you've used [sorry that should be mauve but on my screen they look blue!]

Thank you all, I really appreciate you leaving feedback! I prefer doing these simple studies with no background, its much easier! When I try putting more in thats when I lose control and it ends up in a mess!

Join the club - I have exactly the same problem and usually bottle out and leave all the background out - much safer!!

Lovely Donkey Hazel, lovely and simple work that belies how difficult it has been!

Thanks for your lovely comment about my donkey Ros, its really appreciated.

Thanks also to you Kirstie! I took the zebras off as no-one had commented on them so I assumed it was rubbish and deleted. I cant tell half the time if mine are any good so I dont want to leave them on if they are not, bit embarrassing.

Aw thanks Kirstie! Its true what you say though sometimes I wonder at some that get tons of comments and others which are miles better, get no comments at all. And btw Yours are far from rubbish ;)

Hi Hazel, Thank you for your comments on my drawing. love this little Donkey, and all the rest of your gallery, don't worry if nobody comments, and don't delete them, its just that sometimes they are missed if a lot of people have posted. Now you asked what pencils , I use Mechanical pencils 2h 2b and 4b, you cant press on with them, and you get finer lines for hair, then I use a pastel smoother to bring the lines together, the paper is 290 gsm smooth white card, better than Bristol board a nd less than half the price. their web site is. www.southfield-stationers.com. I hope this helps.

This is a superb watercolour donkey painting Hazel, super idea having it facing away from us as well

Tried another watercolour using only Burnt Umber, Paynes grey, Raw sienna and Permanent mauve. From my own photograph. The donkey was actually waiting in a shed for the next child to come along at an adventure park when I was on holiday. Langton Prestige again, this is a lovely paper to work on.
