You have made a good start. I would suggest a little more variety in tone would help. Perhaps darkening the background too, using light against dark and vice versa. Well drawn.

I think your flower heads convey a sense of joie de vie, they gave me the sense they were drinking up that water and reaching for the light. I like this rendition very much . As Ruth suggested a little more contrasts might have helped but I think you achieved the important thing which was to convey a message to the viewer. Very well done.
