Exercise trying out watercolour pencils on a 'smoothish' pastel paper. The paper is too smooth for soft pastels and I don't currently have a suitable range of pastel pencil colours, so I tried watercolour pencils... I'm not convinced that it is the best combination.

I started attending a weekly Watercolour workshop after retiring in December 2014. I also enjoy working with graphite pencils, sometimes supplemented with watercolour pencils. I also use charcoal, pastels, Inktense, pen & ink, and coloured pencils.
