A great sky and a lovely arrangement of interesting buildings. The red door adds a perfect touch of colour.

Good treatment with the Grey, nice warm variation! Can often cause problems but you have got it just right. As for the door "WHAT OTHER COLOUR COULD IT POSSIBLY BE!" Great stuff. Regards Chris

Thank you Ann, Anne, Helen and Chris for the kind remarks about this painting, and as you say Chris, WHAT OTHER COLOUR COULD THE DOOR BE !!! I can see you have looked at many of my other works and ALL the red doors which I almost seem to have painted without thinking about it !! I always think it is a great colour however small it might be to have in some paintings to make your eye travel to where you would like the viewer of the painting to look.

Another masterful watercolour, Graham. I especially like the contrast of the dark skies and the bright buildilngs. And the red door is just perfect; show the owners of the buildings and maybe they'll paint the real door red!

Thanks Jane for your kind remarks, Sutherland is a long long way away from where I stay, so it would be difficult to make contact now with the owners, and the painting was sold a couple of years ago at our Annual art club exhibition to someone in my area because it reminded him of the area where he had stayed in his youth, i THINK !!

Fabulous paining Graham, each time I see a new painting of yours I decide IT'S my favourite...until you post the next painting and THAT'S my favourite!!! This IS my favourite!!!

Thanks Fiona for you again taking the time to view and comment on one of my paintings, always appreciated and pleased you like it so much .

Thought the farm bulldings made an interesting subject for painting with the stark winter trees in the background along with the darkness of the rain filled sky - the red door was a bit if artistic licence on my part as the original was pretty weathered and the colour would have nothing for the painting.
