Art Club Spring Challenge Cup - The Queen

Art Club Spring Challenge Cup - The Queen

Not suprised you won the Spring Cup Challenge, this is very good, you've definately captured The Queen's likeness.

This is lovely. She is such an iconic figure, we have all seen her on the News & in magazines so often, it's brave of you to attempt it. You have really pulled it off. The clothes, the way she holds herself, the smile. This is the person we see in the images.

Congratulations Glennis. This is such a good likeness and you have caught her personality. I do think that when the Queen dies it will be the end of Great Britain as we know it! Ooops , do you think they are checking these E-mails already.

A lovely portrait Glennis, I'm sure the Queen would like it and I believe she isn't always pleased with some of the many that have been painted over the years!

I should think you did win Glennis, it's brilliant!! Well done you.

Not surprised you won either, Glennis - it's very impressive.

Congratulations Glennis - a lovely portrait. I am sure the Queen would appreciate it too. You have really captured her likeness very well and she looks so happy.

I think you've caught the Queen here - she has aged in the last few years (and sadly, isn't alone in that..) and the good thing about your painting is that you've reflected that without making her look wizened - you've observed her as she is: as said above, she's such a well-known image that it's all too easy to present an essentially de-humanized portrait; but you've avoided that and have caught her essential warmth.

Thahk you all so much for your very kind comments much appreciated. I tried to bring out her warmth as she does have a lovely smile and from your comments I think I may have achieved it.

What a beautiful smile, you've caught her perfectly Glennis. Not surprised you won the Spring Cup it's a charming portrait of her Majesty.

Kirstie and Val - thank you both for your comments much appreciated

Congratulations on your win, Glennis! Unsurprising, it's a really good likeness of the Queen.

You have really captured the Queen, especially the eyes. I have just come back from visiting Windsor Castle where they have a display of 60 photos of her during her reign so her face is very fresh in my mind. Your painting is very good indeed and an excellent likeness.

Seok and Thea - many thanks for your kind comments

You were brave to take on a portrait of Her Maj....but you have been rewarded with a terrific painting. Well done.

This painting was shortlisted for the Daily Mail Competition, down to final 30.

This was our challenge this year at Art Club, anything connected with this year's Jubilee. This was my entry and I won the Spring Cup Challenge which I was very pleased. Pastel on Pastelmat card, pastel pencils for detail
