Very rich colour and a great 3 D effect.

Well it certainly is stunning in this format, Glennis. Lovely colours

I love poppies, these are a lovely rich colour and I like the way you've frilled the edges!

Stephen, Jane - many thanks for your comments.. Debs thank you and the poppies did have frilled edges, an unusual variety and very pretty.

The sheer strength of colour carries this - brave of you to crop it! I have only very occasionally seen poppies like these - there are a very few isolated specimens locally, in the gardens of the older houses, and they are indeed fantastic flowers.

Oh yes - really vibrant and stunning - nice one Glennis

Robert and Michael many thanks for your valued comments. I did crop the painting because as i said the composition looked boring - if I had faded a few flowers in the background it may have worked better. The flowers are very unusual, double and all frills, unlike the more common species.

The composition is good Glennis, I like the 'zoomed in' effect. Lovely vibrant frilly poppies.

Catching up Glennis, so my apologies for the late comment. Well, you have done a fantastic job with the poppy picture Glennis. You've done them more than justice and I like the format of croppingi It makes them look big and bold. Super colours!

Carole many thanks for your comment, glad you liked them. Fiona - thank you for giving me the opportunity to paint your poppies, the delphiniums will come later!

Beautiul painting Glennis, nice composition and great vibrant colours

Very vibrant Glennis, really catches the eye.

Petra and Val many thanks for the comments.

Another lovely bold painting Glennis. The colours are super and the composition works really well.

Julie, Many thanks for your kind comments.

Well, certainly nothing boring about what appears here, Glennis! It's a beautiful piece, a rather contemporary twist to the usual poppy paintings. It's gorgeous!

Fiona very kindly sent me the photographs to paint these fine poppies. Started with pastel on Canson Paper (smooth side) added some dry watercolour pencil and a little ink as well, bit of everything. I cropped the painting as I didn't think the compostion was very good, a little boring.
