I think this is more than a 'dabble' Glennis. good texture on the trees, nice sky and you could imagine a low sun producing that yellow glow, well done.

Yes, I agree with Stephen, Glennis, this is great. Lovely spontaneous atmospheric view. Well done!

Ah yes, the old "better next time hopefully", I don't suppose we ever stop saying that! But this is lovely, Glennis, and I think it captures one of those rare moments where the light really does seem that colour.

The light really bursts through here - an uplifting painting Glennis

Stephen, Mia, Caroline and Michael - thank you for your very encouraging remarks. Hopefully it will become more spontaneous as opposed to staring at a white piece of paper for a long time wondering where to start.

Actually, taking time to think about what you are going to do, rather than the 'bull at a gate' approach, which I often take, is a good plan.

Glennis your dabbling is paying off, this is a more confident painting with colour and application, it's lovely. I've tried both of the approaches Stephen mentioned and I do now find that thinking about what you want to achieve is good advise. But that piece of white paper can be hypnotic can't it.

I love the colours stunning!:)Linda

I think the light works really well Glennis, well done

Fiona, Linda and Petra thank you for your very encouraging remarks, I am pleasantly surprised as I did think the yellow was too much

I'd love to dabble and come up with this, Glennis! I think the light works pretty well - there's an evening glow to it, and I love the misty atmosphere.

You can always sponge out the yellow very gently Glennis. Not too vigorously, or you disturb the size on the paper. Then, as I mentioned elsewhere, try a broad sweep of a darker shade right across the foreground; at an angle, to suggest shadows of an 'out-of-shot' tree. HTH Regards John .
