Very interesting and striking painting.

Do you mix gum arabic with your colour, they are so rich.

Beautifully painted, however I find the choice of still life subjects a little at odds with the young boy. Nice touch to have the parents in the background with wine glasses.

Lots of interest and so well painted, love the narrative in this piece.

Hi Fred, No i don't use gum arabic, just a very concentrated pigment to water ratio, and sometimes i varnish the finished painting so that it brings out the same brilliancy of the medium as when it's wet. However i think Diana hudson has made a valid point about the boy being at odds with the subject matter of the still life, i think the figure could have been a young woman, as the objects hint at a level of domestic sophistication.
