Sketching is so important so I like to sometimes just play...I look at my subject and then work out shapes it is very freeing to not get caught up in the detail.

What a lovely combination of mother and calf ,its looks as if the calf is whispering in mums ear, probably saying I LOVE YOU MUM. Delightful sketch come painting Gerry

Unusually, it looks even better close up. Clever how the cow's eye becomes the calf's nose. Part of me would like to see it slightly more complete but I get what you're saying
