Agree with you about the relative merits of his portrait/figure and landscape work - although I think he's opened a door for a large number of artists looking for a new approach to watercolour. I'm not especially familiar with his features, but like the portrait anyway.

Charles Reid - watercolour on Fabriano rough 300gsm - 18cm x 25cm I was watching a video of Charles demonstrating his watercolour technique. I've long admired him for his portrait and figure work and less so for his landscapes. I thought I'd try his restricted palette of cad red, yellow ochre and cerulean (plus a couple of other minor ones). This little sketch came after a day of oil portraiture and was a real relief for me.
