Thanks for the comments. Mark - painted from a photograph, though I have spent some time in the area and know the view well. I generally stick to watercolour for plein air working, I&#39;ve tried acrylics outdoors and really struggled with them drying too quickly, though I&#39;ve just bought a selection of &#39;Golden Open Acrylics&#39; to see if they work for me.

Well done George. I went on a a painting holiday to Durham many years ago and we painted the same view. I found it a very difficult subject as there is so much detail to fit in. I love the contrasting shades in the trees.

I live in Durham an pass this splendid view (and others) so often. Wouldn&#39;t dare attempt it. You make trees look easy -lovely picture.
