Many thanks everyone. This comes from an old sketch book of Bristol. I had two studios at the time one in Bristol and another in Wells so I spent a week or two sketching and painting in Bristol and then one week in Somerset. I retired commercially in 2006 when I stopped using galleries and ended my membership of Bristol Savages when we moved to Mid Wales.. so this would be one of the last in the book of Bristol.

It must be great to have such excellent reference material to work from George, especially when you can produce such a smashing finished piece of work from the original drawing/sketch.

Many thanks Fiona. All that sketching through freezing winters and scorching summers has certainly paid dividends these last few years when I can no longer get out and about . Every sketch that I look at now I can always remember doing them, even 40 years on. It's like going back in time.
