A superb piece George , I really like the texture of the foreground it has the rough ground captured so well .

Fine work George. I'm going to have another bash with acrylics sometime soon. Do you prime your watercolour paper before you paint with acrylics?

I agree with Paul and I also like your handling of the trees

I do like this, a lovely painting.

Thank you all very much. In answer to Lewis, some times it's primed and sometimes not. In this case it was primed with white emulsion paint. Will not last for ever obviously, but most of my paintings are of a temporary nature and will get painted over quite soon after painting.

Thanks George.

Super painting George.

This is superb, George. I particularly like the way the orange carries the eye around the whole picture, giving weight and emphasis, and the purple distance is sublime. One of your best, I feel.

Excellent painting George.

That’s lovely, George. Love the little flashes of complementary colour in the trees, and the feeling of space.

You manage to create such a natural look George which is so appealing

Beautiful work George

Thank you all very much.

I very much like this - and George, it might last a lot longer than you think, always provided you don't paint over it... Watercolour paper, primed or not, is a very good base for acrylic paint, although I'd have used "proper" acrylic primer, cunningly described as gesso (which it isn't) rather than emulsion. I like the mix of textures you can achieve by combining transparent washes with opaque paint; and as always, I like your foregrounds (and distances) which look very detailed until you focus on them, when you then see the very effective gestural marks.

And I like those three birds George….

Well, don't paint over this one. It's beautifully composed and beautifully painted. I am intrigued by your comment that your paintings are of temporary nature. I trash/paint over many of my paintings. And then with renewed hope start a new one.

Many thanks Robert, Marjorie, and Lynne. I sometimes use the so called Acrylic Gesso mostly on (nasty) cheap Grey board, to seal in the acid used in the board. I've done this since about 1970 with no apparent longish term damage. Since retiring from painting for a living in 2006 I've never tried to sell my paintings, so it makes little difference. The few I've kept show no sign yet of damage, but thats not to say that they wont in future! If I live till I'm 120 I will report back!!
