Thought it was one of Midoris when I first saw it - superb attempt at the style - in fact a winner.

Many thanks Michael for your encouraging comment. Appreciate it from one whose work I admire.

This is a nice loose watercolour technique for this painting Jane, and it works well , look forward to seeing more of of your work in the future using this technique , as for advice, I think it is mainly about practice practice practice when painting wet in wet and hopefully a lot of happy accidents that appear in ther finished paintings !!! along the way at least that is what I have found over the years.

Thank you Graham and practising I am with very varied results. As you say, it's the happy accidents that I'm looking for at this stage, although I think successful wet in wet watercolourists actually know what to do and don't just keep their fingers crossed (and start again on the back of the first attempt) as I do! Hey ho...more practice tomorrow and when one is reasonable enough I'll post it.

This is a super first attempt and I hope the subsequent efforts haven't discouraged you from continuing to experiment with this loose style. I'm in no position to offer advice as I'm still learning the basics, but I like it a lot.

I appreciate the time you've taken to leave a comment Paul. I have tried again without much success but think that the paintings were too small and I got a bit bogged down in the detail again. In the next few days I'm going to try working on a larger scale and see what happens. Might even have the courage to post one here...

This is super, Jane! It certainly brings back memories of my trip to Luxor. And the washes are lovely - clear and subtle. The colors of the desert contrasted with mellow blues and purples - it's absolutely stunning!

Inspired by Midori's postings this is my first attempt at painting in a looser way. This caretaker at Medinat Habu temple on the west bank of the Nile, Luxor, showed us around and pointed out some things that engaged our very young grandsons - success indeed! Would appreciate suggestions/advice from those with experience in this style. All I can say from later attempts is it's really difficult!
