Ah ha! thought this might be one of yours as soon as I saw it! lovely composition and a super background, just love the colours -well I would would'n't I, right up my street!!

I took a photo of Sea Holly at Highdown Gardens near Worthing today Carole. I fully intended to try and capture it's spikiness and colour but after seeing your lovely painting don't think I could do it justice! A lovely painting.

Absolutely utterly stunning Carole. I'm finding it really hard to start painting again after a long absence and this has knocked my confidence even further . This is just what I'd love to be able to do.

Very nice - not generally a fan of botanical subjects but your painting transends the normal - Diana just dive in and give it a go, results are not as important as the enjoyment of just painting.

Absolutely stunning, Carole - those colours!! You have got the essence of the flower perfectly but instead of overstating it, you have approached the subject in a loose, expressive and very artistic way. Brilliant work.

This is beautiful, Carole. The palette and the composition are superb; but I also admire the technicality of the work. Browsing your gallery is an education in itself. Stunning work!

Stunning Carole and the colours you've chosen are very apt as they are very evocative of the sea.

I like this very eye catching work of art Carole!

Agree with all the above comments - the colours and textures are really eye catching, Carole.

Thanks so much to all your generous comments. I drew about three of these pricklers, but added and subtracted them along the way, lifting out and adding leaves here and there so I thought the composition looked a bit lost! DianaI have been very lost lately, nothing inspired me to get going. I was just testing out some blues with yellows and liked the way they merged on paper, the colours seem to match this newly aquired plant. Thanks again all.

Must add there is a bit of indian ink in there too.

Magnifique!!! The colours are fantastic and the flowers so beautiful. This is a winner !

I agree with all that has been said. Cracking painting

I agree with all that has been said. I did wonder why we hadn't seen anything lately but this was worth the wait. I love it.
