You have certainly got that chilly feel to this piece Carole. Wondering if those 3D pieces though.

First impressions, sorry could be wrong.

Love the snow flakes and the blues and purples and the silver, very nice mixed media, Carole

Thank you Annick and thanks John. Just messing John bits of doily for supposed snowflakes, yes they look like flowers :))

Looks like you had a lot of fun with this Carole, lovely textures and colours 😃

Not too keen on the stuck on bits if I'm honest but nevertheless, it's an interesting piece and full marks for trying something different. The colours as always are lovely :)

Lovely cool image Carole. I like the doilies and they look like flowers

Thanks so much everyone great to see your different views on these things. Not too keen on the flower bits myself but the handmade paper at bottom worked ok for snow.

I didn't read the doilies as snowflakes but as flowerheads, and the paper at the bottom as woodland mist. I don't think the doilies work completely, but the snow/mist at the bottom definitely does (even if I misread it). The painting underneath all this is beautiful...I wish I could do 'delicate.' You should be pleased with this, Carole.

That's a good idea Lewis, it could be mist at bottom. Thanks for your comment much appreciated.

This certainly has a winter feel, Carole. I like the effect at the bottom with the handmade paper. And I like the metallic flowers... I’m interested in what you used for them. I do quite a lot of collage in my acrylic paintings, I use my own photos that are on the computer, then print them off. Then I cut them to the shape I’m after and apply to them to the same image I’ve previously drawn, then paint over them. I think the white flower heads/snowflakes would have worked slightly better if you’d probably put a light wash of paint over them. But I like the painting, it makes you look. Sorry it’s long winded.

Hi Ellen, thanks for your views on my offering, yes the doily bits do stand out and are too large. The silver metallic is gotta outliner it's used in silk painting to contain the colours. I bought this ages ago when I had a thing about glass painting it was used in the same way to contain the colours. I have a few colours in gutta, nice to add a sparkle sometimes. Thanks for telling me how you do your collage paintings.

That's Gutta lining, predictive text again :(

Yes, the smaller doilies look good, it's the top one which I think is too large. A light wash of paint as Ellen suggests would work. I like the silver as well. Very interesting to look closely at and I think you'll try another. I would if I could that is :)

Love the choice of colours Carole, did you use watercolour or inks for your initial washes? I like your mixed media creations.

Beautiful colours for a winter scene and love the handmade paper at the bottom.

Thank you Louise Fiona and Sandra. Fiona the base wash was both watercolour and acr inks.

Great colour choice, like the collage , adds to the depth and interest.

Beautifully done Carole

A stunning piece, Carole. Love your use of hard and soft edges that creates a very dreamy atmosphere.
