Ps. Sorry about the right blob near the wing. I drew this on a spare bit of Bristol board which had adhered to my paint palette.

A beautiful 'Hummingbird Moth' pencil drawing, with intricate fine texture showing the soft body work well, an excellent drawing Carole!

Beautiful insect well done Carole

Beautiful Carole, you have such a delicate touch which really shows in this. The detail is fabulous.

You've got that feeling of transparency in the wings, a n exc drawing Carole.

Stunning drawing Carole.

A beautiful drawing Carole.

Well I can't see any blob Carole, but I can see an exquisite pencil drawing. Stunning as always, and I've never used a grade F pencil, but they obviously have a use.

A super drawing, Carole!

Thanks for all your encouraging comments. Trying out Bristol board, very very smooth for drawing !

Absolutely fantastic again, Carole! I saw one in our garden this summer, it was flying up and down and first I thought it was a hummingbird until I realised that it was a moth.

Beautiful. Well done Carole.

I've just seen this, Carole, and think it's beautifully detailed. The Bristol board seems like a winner. Great stuff. Bri

I love Bristol Board Carole, I just wish I could produce something as good as this on it !

Thank you Satu, Tony, Gudrun, Brian and Val, much appreciated.

A beautiful example of this particular hawk moth Carole.....I’m in to moths and do a bit of recording for the national statistics. We had a visit this year too.....thrilling!

A delicate and beautiful drawing , Carole.

What a beautiful sketch Carole, I almost expect it to fly away!

Thanks ladies for your lovely comments. Fiona that must be interesting. My son found a light greenish moth in his garden (dead) and brought it to me to look in a book I have. I think it was a Emerald moth, one of the bigger types?

Beautiful and intricate, Carole.

So well drawn Carole!

It is Carole, I’ve wlways been fascinated by moths. I have a moth trap(doesn’t kill them just catches them) which I put out all night, and in the morning I identify, count and log what I catch. When I lived in the highlands I found three that had never been recorded before....quite exciting! I really must get out more! I do bat surveys as well......

Thanks Dawn and Louise. Fiona, that is really interesting honestly! We have bats fly around the house at twilight, I love to see them, not as good as when we had the big pond though, as they swooped down to catch the midges :)
