rainy day in Richmond by David Fitch

Fabulous, love everything about it.

Lots of atmosphere in this David. You have captured the feeling of wet weather.

Thank you for your great comments, I very much appreciate them, David x

Great painting, I love the lack of extraneous detail , like the spokes of the wheels, that would have distracted from the feel of the wet day.

Really like this painting.!!

Just a little note on how I went about producing the wet effect: I produce my own boards using hardboard usually cut to size by the DIY store, I lightly sand the smooth surface before painting with acrylic gesso 3 to 4 coats, with this one instead of leaving the brush strokes to dry in I dabbed the final coat with kitchen paper to achieve a wrinkly effect allowing the paint to sit on top of the wrinkles. Using a more dilute paint allows the paint to flow into the mini Channels of the gesso.

A really super painting David and thanks for explaining your process; that's really interesting.
