Leonardo's Salvator Mundi

Comments

At 450 million dollars, the most expensive painting ever sold and now no one knows where it is? A really good attempt James. Are you sure this isn't the original? (-:

Well done you!

I admire your courage and your skill too. Its no easy matter to copy leonardo. I have a print of his painting framed I love it so much. I'm abit of a fanatic and I applaud you for painting a very convincing version of your own. I have actually painted this myself. It was very hard especially the raised hand which I really struggled with so very well done.

I know it's not really known if he painted it or not but I do think it was created in his workshop. For the time the hand and transparency of the ball were only really doable by leonardo. I've seen many other artists work of the time and the skill was not comparable to him. If you take the years during which it was created then salai would have been in his twenties maybe and melzi a young teen ager so maybe either of these might have done abit. I do have reservations about the face particularly the drawing which in some ways is not quite on the level of the way it has been painted. I mean the original ofcourse. I'd love to have a chat with Martin kemp. Anyway I've waffled on enough.

Appreciate your feedback, comments and debates - wish it was the original! Maybe I could sell it for a good sum.... I like to think that Leonardo did paint the image rather than his studio. Think there's a rumour the Saudi Prince that owns it keeps it on his super-yacht..... to say that I found the face more difficult to do than the hands.

Lacking any kind of fund to even attempt buying the original, I thought I would paint my own Salvator Mundi (Savior of the World). attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, the artist is believed to have painted the work in 1500's. Follow the link to discover more about the painting's history; https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvator_Mundi_(Leonardo) I started the painting in 2020 then left it as too complicated to copy. But decided recently to have another go and finish it..
