A scene from one of my favourite walks along the Tees from Bowlees. I find that sometimes paintings just ‘flow’ effortlessly; others, like this one, I have to fight all the way, especially when I’m working from photos and trying to reconcile my memory with the limited information available. Watercolour on Canson paper, 14x10’". Cobalt blue, French ultramarine, permanent rose, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow pale.
