Lovely, Emma. I'm jealous about all your fieldfares! We have had at least one in our garden every winter for a few years (if snow, up to 4), but none at all this year.

This is lovely Emma. We see quite a lot of fieldfares around here in groups of maybe 30-50. Sadly it’s very rare to see a normal thrush though.

Beautifully painted Emma, we get a few eating the fallen fruit in the garden but there are huge flocks in the hedgerows around us, and redwings.

Thank you everyone. We rarely get fieldfares in such large numbers round here, and I've never had one in the garden, so I will enjoy them while I can!

Fieldfares are a type of thrush that migrate to Britain in winter from Scandinavia; some years we don't see many, but this winter there have been lots, hoovering up the hawthorn and rowan berries. This bird was one of a huge flock at RSPB Saltholme. HP paper with ink and cobalt blue, transparent yellow and permanent rise watercolour.
