Smashing Bob, good to see you're still painting. Without your words, I think she looks like she's just leaving a cinema having been baffled by the modern flash bang wallop films these days

Thank you all very much for your kind comments. All very much appreciated! I agree, Carole and Margaret. On meeting her, she reminded me of a cross between Margaret Rutherford and Dr Who ! I was captivated by this lady from the moment I met her. I believe she worked in theatre administration for a long time, and now, at ‘quite a significant age’ ( I’m not saying, she would kill me!!) she works as theatre critic for a provincial newspaper. In her spare time, she lets out the disused back end of the local theatre to dance schools, artists and performers. The portrait was from my own photo, and the theatre background was imagined.
