Alum Bay

A beautiful painting Diana.

It is as colourful as you painted it. I really love this part of the Isle of Wight.

I used to work in a shop - long ago - which sold ghastly plastic objects filled with "Alum Bay sand": it wasn't, of course ... the sand came from all over the place, and some of it was dyed. Never ceased to amaze me that people didn't ask how there was any sand left on the beach at all if all of these objects had been filled with the real thing. But there we are. People believe too easily..... This is actually rather a difficult subject to paint without producing something that looks a bit like a seaside postcard, but I think you've succeeded.

Gorgeous painting. People pottering along the beach makes it extra lively.
