Diana, you shouldn't beat yourself up over this. I think it is a marvellous watercolour painting. I would be very pleased to put my name to it. Well done!!!

How can you say that Diana this is stunning! But best to look in a few days if you not happy, you could perhaps scrub some areas a bit to lighten? I think it's brilliant;)

There is no need of signature, Diana. This terrific painting testifies your great skill.

Diana, you have such a great skill....it's brilliant!

It's great.....

My first thought was "wow!" The deep colours make it very dramatic Diana, it's a beauty.

Incredibly stunning Diana!

I have to agree with the others Diana - this works perfectly. Those reflections in the wineglasses are absolutely wonderful, as usual, and the colours in the work top frame them well. As Carole says, look at it in a few days when you have had time away from it. Whatever you feel about it after, please don't throw it away.

Thank you Michael. I'm getting dreadfully self critical and expecting a lot of myself. Thanks Carole. I will do that and see how it looks after a break. Thank you Cesare, I really appreciate your loyal support Thank you Fiona. There are bits of this I'm happy with. Thank you Marjorie. I'm such a perfectionist but I love stretching myself Thank you Satu, I'm pleased that you like it. Thank you Adele, maybe I'm being over critical and I will look at it in a few days. The good thing is that I can start a new one. Diana

I have only one word for this beauty: WOW!!!

Thank you Mia. Your lovely comment is very much appreciated Diana

No way is this a failure Diana....it's fabulous work! Well done...

A stunning piece - I love it. It's often difficult to be objective about our own work - we know what's "wrong" here and there but viewers see it as a whole.

Diana, to have achieved this in watercolour is amazing! I like the darker blues and bright colours at the base of the painting, they provide a nice balance to the darker area at the top.

Fantastic work Diana, I think the bottom half is brilliant - as is the top half!

Thank you Jenny M. I am happy now after brightening the lights and tidying it up a bit. Thank you Stephanie. I love painting glass and am happy with a salvage job. Thanks Dennis, I like painting glass but need to make it look more than just a clinical copy if you know what I mean Thank you Peter and John. I'm happier today after brightening the lights a bit. Thank you Sylvia, I'm getting rather self critical but I think Ive improved it enough to feel happier today. April, your right about us all seeing problems that viewers probably won't notice Thank you Jenny. I made a few minor changes today that has made me see it in a new light. I enjoyed reading about your painting in the news email. Thank you Russell, It's interesting to hear other people's ideas. I feel a lot happier with it today after some minor adjustments Diana

Thanks, Diana, for taking the time to read my bit in the news email - I hope it wasn't too boring - I really wasn't sure what to say! I like the 'painterly' changes you've made to this one, it adds interest.

Thanks Jenny. I appreciate the feedback. Your article wasn't at all boring! I love to read the thought and planning behind a piece as well as the technique. I really liked that painting. The collage worked beautifully Diana

I thought it was a stunning piece! And I rather like bottom half - beautiful use of lost and found lines, full of impact and vibrancy.

Stunning work Diane, your reflections are wonderful.

This is great work.... Bravo..

Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind and encouraging comments Alan, Margaret and Seok. Diana

A real stunner! Glass is so hard to paint and you have made this sparkle with colour and light.

Really like this Diana , I've had several watercolours over the years where I've been dissatisfied and on the verge of binning because of a strange feeling that a certain passage in the painting was too dark this feeling would never leave me until I attempted a remedy . I remember reading the great Trevor Chamberlin talking about softening a passage in a painting that was too dark and I thought if he does it now and then I will too , it's amazing how a little tweak like this can turn a painting into a gem , also a fleck or two scratched out with a blade in a very dark passage can be a wonder. Just my views on when I'm not happy with one of mine as I know that feeling , I honestly think it's a fine painting either way

Hello Dermot. I really appreciate you taking the time to write that for me. Diana

Marvellous depiction of the glass and reflections and the stronger use of colour at the base works very well, it is a lovely work. I just wonder if the perspective of one or two of he glasses is wrong? The nearer glass especially seems to be tipped forward at the top?

Hello Stephen and thank s for the feedback. That rim certainly can look odd. It's one of those optical illusions where it can be tipped forwards or backwards. I see it as you do now. Diana

Watercolour. Half imperial rough. I am putting this one on the failure pile as I just don't think it's worked The bottom half irritates me somehow. In a few days I will look at it with new eyes and see if I can sort it. Unlikely as should have left in much lighter in several areas.
