I rather like the one on the left....I'm off to paint over my last effort - I'm not happy with it so on to experimenting, perhaps leaving the idea but changing. Who said "anyone can paint?"

Thanks Marjorie, I rather like that one too, but it just used up the sample when I wasn't painting small.

NO Derek, keep them both! I love the left one and as far as the right one goes...I wish I could do 'poor' attempts at pen & wash like it! Have you got any more gems like this hiding away?

Thanks Fiona, but sorry the RH one is under gesso at present. If I can find a few do you want to make me an offer???LOL

I think they both have value Derek. I don't often paint over my poor ones or I would end up with one painting. Personally I would have kept them . Too late now though. Lovely

Thanks dennis, the tree is still there, but who knows?

Do not over paint the tree Derek that is an order it's really good

Thanks dennis, I am glad you said that, I think it has a place in my archive, give it away to family maybe, but that's where they all will be going one day

I totally agree Derek. Many people will think it's a beautiful addition to the living room wall

Please don't recycle the tree Derek, I agree with Dennis, it really is worth keeping. Mind you, so was the other....but too late!Lol.

Thanks dennis and Fiona, the tree is rather small and would need a big mount and frame, but what ever.

Yes, keep the tree. I wouldn't mourn the other one, which had problems, but you've resolved these by the simple, and always effective, remedy of murder. It would make a good study for a fresh painting, though: the colouring was good, and you know where its weaknesses lay so I won't recite them.

Thanks Robert, all underway

Just looking through your paintings Derek, and these caught my eye. The LH painting is a real beauty. I would like to paint that exact scene because it is so enchanting. I love the colours you have used and the light and shade of the branches are so subtle - like Zoltan Szabo. I could gaze at this all day long. The RH painting has a good shed in the foreground with a warm rusty roof. It also has a tale to tell. Why not repeat them both on a larger scale? I DO love your tree though.

Thanks Jennifer, the LH is a practice after readling John Blockely&#39;s book. I do admire his stuff a lot. I like it too. <br />The RH is based on a walk and the remembered scene.

Found these oldies in watercolour. The LH is a tryout on a sample piece playing with colours, the other a poor attempt at ink and wash of a Hampshire walk. I will bin the sample and paint on the reverse of the other probably with my next attempt at abstract

Eleventyeight as my hashing pals called my new age recently, it's supposed to sound better. Trying to paint every day in acrylics using only expired credit/debit cards, and partially succeeding as they're only for me and not show these days.
