This is an invented scene but I got the idea from a Gary tucker video. He seems pretty good.

Dennis I almost never stretch paper as the ones I use never buckle. Last time I stretched I soaked the paper back and front and left it for two minutes before placing it on a board and taping the edges down with gummed tape .....you must leave overnight to dry If you wish there are plenty of tutorials on You Tube that may assist

I agree with Dermot about the stretching, Dennis. You have to soak it completely in water (not for too long), tape it and let it dry overnight. Your painting is very atmospheric.

Thank you very much Dermot

Thank you very much Mia

Use a good quality heavy weight watercolour paper Dennis then you won't need to stretch it :)

You’re most welcome Dennis , I use Arches rough 140 lb it’s beautiful to work on pricier than most but to me it’s money well spent

Thank you all very much, it's much appreciated

This has a feeling I like. Just painted something similar in a way. I am just about to post it on.

Very atmospheric Dennis. As for watercolour paper, definitely buy the cold press paper which is at least 140lbs . Have a look at Alan Owen' You Tube videos in which he lays down large washes on unstretched paper which he holds in place with bulldog clips which seem to do the job well. I, unfortunately used hot press paper the other day, soaked it after taping it down and painted a watercolour scene on it but the paper buckled and stayed buckled. I wetted the back of the painting and put it under some heavy books but it still came out being a bit buckled. I like Gary Tucker too . 👍

Yes, It's got bags of atmosphere, Dennis. Very effective, I'd say. Bri

Really atmospheric, Dennis. I like it a lot. Dermot’s advice is good, although I never stretch paper as I use the really heavyweight ones, it’s more expensive but I use it for acrylics as well sometimes.

Just experimenting with atmosphere I'm going to attempt a watercolour , a new experience for me , but it's looking bad I've had 3 goes so far at stretching the paper but it's hopeless I keep getting wrinkles in it , help me somebody.
