Inside the Old Fort, Concarneau.
Now this really was a happy time! The narrow street really was busy with tourists and the shoppers were keeping the shop keepers hard at it. I'd set my stool up in a place where I did not cause much of an obstruction opposite to a boutique. The lady running the boutique took a great interest in what I was doing and whenever she could, she would nip across the street and check up on progress. She seemed to be very pleased with my sketch because she brought her customers over too. I wish I had been able to converse with her but my grasp of French is limited to very basic schoolboy French going back to my time at Grammar School shortly after the war. A lovely time!
