Lovely story about how and where it sold Dennis and it is a lovely work as well Dennis, how big was it ? with you mentioning you use a stick in ink on larger works it sounds like it was one of your bigger ones, really like your boats and colours used

Sorry! Should have mentioned the size. I still work in feet and inches! It would have been 18'' x 14''. I use a painting frame which takes half sheets of Bockingford. Sometimes the framed picture may be a little smaller if I exercise my discretion to CTC.

Another 'winner' Denis, not surprised it sold. I can see the Wesson influence here and I think he would be pleased with your efforts!

Hi Steve. Thanks for that comment. It's now over 30 years since I spent my one and only week with Edward Wesson. I was booked for another week with him at Philips House but he was too ill to tutor the course - John Yardley stood in for him instead - the first of many courses he was to run there.

Love your portfolio Denis, fresh and freely done.

Great stuff - love it and also love Southwold! Your pen and wash work is really impressive - please keep posting them.

Not strictly from my sketch book, but an ink and wash knocked off quickly down in Southwold. I was quite pleased with the end result, framed it and it sold at the Help for Heros exhibition in Beverley a couple of years ago. When I'm working on a larger scale I use the Edward Wesson method - ie a stick dipped in a bottle of Indian Ink.

Keen on art at school and would have dearly liked a job with an art connection- I had hoped to get into architecture, but it did not happen.…
