I had to execute the picture quickly because my friend and I were anxious to get into Holt to see the Exhibition of Edward Seago’s work being held there. I’ve long been an admirer of Seago and I was certainly not disappointed with what was on show - oils and watercolours. One of his pictures hanging in the Hill Gallery depicted the very same scene that I’d painted in the morning. But I’ll concede that Seago’s rendering of it was rather more accomplished than mine. What a masterful artist he was!
