Thank you both for your kind words. I am enjoying"playing" at the moment. its exciting as you don't really know whether they are going to work , sometimes i get lucky.

I like your paintings so much. I particularly like them when they have background. All your portraits are fantastic but the ones with white background seem more photographic than the ones with background, although very Spencer-ish in the working of the skin tones and expressions. I know the plain background portraits are concentrating on the expressions and ideas behind relationships so maybe this is done purposefully to keep the main focus to the fore. This is not to say the plain background ones are not wonderfully executed - they are - but this one is stunning! I love this. The use of different colours linking to the background looks awesome!

Thanks Jean, this was actually just a rough piece i was working on but it turned out better than expected. In regards to the others you are right, the intention was to leave the white backgrounds so as not to take away from the faces. It does make the look more photographic, which in this case, was what i was aiming for.
