Blue Rose Fairy

Blue Rose Fairy

This is pretty. I love the rose. Could you tell me what 'slattering' is, and 'glass nuggets'?? I always like to hear about and try new things but haven't heard of these. It is a lovely effect.

Hi Margaret Thanks for your comments. I actually spelt the word wrong, it should say splattering with a 'p'. It is done by rubbing your finger across a toothbrush loaded with paint in the direction you want. Glass nuggets are like flat marbles, they are bought in shops at 5p each by children, who like to collect them for their colours. They are used in displays and left arranged in a glass bowl for decoration. Thanks again, glad you like the fairies and sheep, Debbie

1. the idea is quite genuin and and original 2. the brush strucks should be harmonized (the same manner) all over the painting 3. it requires even more contrast

This was the first painting I did in the series. I used a photo of Millie, who posed as a fairy, with a silk flower of a blue rose and the addition of watercolour techniques of splattering, misting, and sea salt. I added the use of painting glass nuggets to give a magical moment.
