This one caught my eye Debbie I love the soft marks in the foreground leading the eye to your neighbours house. A complete contrast to my style which would have strong darks. I have been doing some work on remote cottages and it’s great to see how other artists tackle similar subjects.

I live on the Isle of Lewis. The features of the landscape are Crofthouses dotted amongst the new modern houses. I have painted the view from the top of my stairs, looking across to the neighbours. I had some fun painting it with my easel on the landing. I experimented with acrylics and ink, using a chinese brush, with highlights of pastel. It was in the year 2010, when I painted this and with snow approaching my birthday on the 2 April, I thought it was appropriate.
