Great Idea for a painting Dawn. Colours really sing out, just as if it has stained glass windows down there.

This painting is so intriguing and fun Dawn. The colors are great! and the loose, textural effects you are achieving are wonderful. I am drawn more to the wet into wet application, and you have let the colors create their own mixes and edges on the paper. And spattering too! the strong sharpie line works real well. Thanks for your kind comment on my cat painting, and the suggestion of brusho. I had not heard of it, and I see what it can do with your cathedral painting here. You would never know this was a drain! Isn't nature and life inspiring to take it to abstraction and to a different meaning? Well done!

Thank you, Nancy. I bought my brusho from eBay and it wasn't that expensive. What I would say is, if you decide to try it, less is more!

Day 21 of Inktober challenge and I just loved the shapes in this drain. I thought it would make a great abstract and reminded me of a cathedral, and what is more important to our well being than clean water. Brusho, sharpie and signo pen on watercolour paper

About the Artist
Dawn Halliwell

I started painting in Jan 2016 after the death of my youngest sister. I found it great therapy and still do! I love experimenting with different techniques and media. I mainly work in pastel or oils for pet portraits, but I also enjoy doing ink portraits with the odd landscape thrown in for good…
