PRETTY, BUT SILLY POINTLESS LANDSCAPE

PRETTY, BUT SILLY POINTLESS LANDSCAPE

I SUPPOSE I PAINTED THIS AS A PROTEST AGAINST WHAT MANY VIEWERS OF ART EXPECT FROM AN ARTIST, THAT IS TO BE A HUMAN CAMERA RECREATING EVERY NUANCE AND VIGNETTE OF ACCEPTABILITY, WITH NO MENTAL OR VISUAL CHALLENGE !THAT IS JUST MY OPINION OF COURSE BUT THAT IS WHY I SEE THIS PAINTERS ON LINE SITE SUCH AN EDUCATION IN ALTERNATIVE TAKES ON THE OBVIOUS AND "EASY VIEWING" CONFORMITY. THERE ARE SO MANY VISUALLY INVENTIVE ARTISTS ON THIS SITE EXPLORING "OUT OF THE CONVENTIONAL AND TRADITIONAL BOX" AND I APPLAUD THEM ALL FOR THEIR VISION AND THE EXCITING WORK THEY PRESENT ON THIS SITE...AMEN !!

Who really cares about the critical ones. In life the critical people are the ones who create the least I find

In addition an artist who I read something on recently said whilst painting outdoors he got comments from passers by saying ooh its not very realistic and so on or hes not very good. He decided to always carry with him an exhibit a really supposedly perfect painting and put a huge price tag on it so if anyone was stupid enough to buy it that proved his point. Excellent I might try that lol

Additionally if I had someone who commented in such a way I would introduce them to the art of lipreading!!

It is pretty, as to whether it has a point - well who can say? - and it certainly isn't silly (you want silly - I can point you to REALLY silly if you like!). No, this is charming, and fresh, and fun. I can quite see why you wouldn't want to pay like it all the time - it requires more patience than I normally possess, to start with - but it's the sort of painting that cheers you up and makes you feel better: so it DOES have a point, too.

THANKS FOR THE VARIOUS COMMENTS, I KNEW IT WOULD PRODUCE REACTION ,AFTER ALL IS THAT NOT WHAT ARTISTS SHOULD BE ABOUT.. CHECK OUT "PASHIPATINATH" ON MY GALLERY, ( I WON AN AWARD @PATCHINGS 2015 WITH THIS ONE IT PROVES I CAN PAINT TO PHOTOGRAPHIC REALITY ,BUT THIS IS WHAT I COPIED FROM REALITY , NOT THE EMOTION I EXPERIENCED ACTUALLY BEING THERE ! COMPERE IT TO" MOUSEHOLE HARBOUR" ON SAME SITE ,THEN"THE INSIDE JOB", WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO PAINT THE FIRST ,I WOULD NOT HAVE THE CONFIDENCE TO PAINT THE LAST, IE A TRANSITION FROM REALITY TO ABSTRACTION. I HAVE HAD OBSERVERS OF MY ART SAY "IF YOU CAN PAINT LIKE A PHOTOGRAPH"THEN VIEWING AN ABSTRACT VOICE.."WHY DO YOU DO THAT CRAP!" PROVES THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE APPLAUD THE OBVIOUS BUT REJECT THE PROGRESSIVE ? THERE IS A GOOD BOOK AROUND (CANT REMEMBER THE AUTHOR) TITLED..NO YOUR 4 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILD COULD NOT PAINT AN ABSTRACT... THIS IS THE POINT, AN ARTIST SHOULD EVOKE THE MIND EMOTIONS OF THE VIEWER ,NOT JUST THE VISUAL EXPRESSION "I LIKE THAT BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE WHAT IT IS" PROGRESSIVE ART, I FEEL IS NOT THERE TO CHALLENGE THE VIEWERS INTELLIGENCE ,BUT TO HELP THEM THINK BEYOND THEIR INSTANT AND ACCEPTANCE OF WHAT "AN ARTIST SHOULD PUT FORWARD". WHAT IS MORE ABSTRACT FOR INSTANCE OF SAY A MAHLER SYMPHONY ?

Well I like it David...utterly charming and you very obviously enjoyed doing it. Could I ask you very gently not to use capitals in your text (unless they are in the correct place) The reason I ask is that in computer speak it is actually shouting! I find it difficult to actually read it ! . If you ignore me, fine . Its only a gentle ASK. LOL . Have you got a very loud voice in real life ?

i apologize sylvia ,speak like a mouse and only mice listen . yes i have a load voice, i am a singer and have performed at symphony hall birmingham three times , AND BELEIVE YOU ME MY DEAR THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL BE HEARD IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE OF 2500 !,

Like it David.....SHOUT AWAY XXXXX

I also like this charming little painting, David, but understand the point you were making. (I echo Sylvia's comments, though, about using capital letters, it makes your text really hard to read!)

I wholeheartedly agree, David, about not wanting to do photorealistic paintings.,I never do simply because it doesn't interest or inspire me at all. The only exception are still lives of which we have wonderful samples on this site. Your pretty landscape here is not silly but delightful because it has got a naivistic approach which makes it fun and a pleasure to look at. Thank you also for commenting for Tom, lovely surprise!

Well , thanks for all your appraisals, perhaps i miss titled this painting. I remember painting this artistic folly while suffering a serious bout of Trigeminal Neuralgia, known as the worst pain known to medicine ! worth looking up if you dare ! i would not wish it upon my worst enemy !! However i suppose at the time it helped me through the illness and misery, an imaginary perfect world without pain, but alas i still see it as a contender for the chocolate box /biscuit tin award for charming, easily recognizable and acceptable " stale safe art ". Sorry to all that like it. any one want to buy it?
