Thank-you both for your lovely comments. Indeed, I cannot understand why Gouache seems to be a 'forgotten' medium, as it's extremely versatile and easy to use, and can be used with watercolour too if desired.

A Juvenile Northern Hobby at Ham Wall RSPB Reserve on the Somerset Levels. The painting is 23.4x16.5 inches size and completed in 100% Windsor & Newton Designers Gouache, which is an opaque type of watercolour. Detailed work was completed with a Size 1 Series 7 Sable Brush, whilst larger blended areas such as the sky and water were completed in a large round soft brush.
