Your tones have created a great sense of depth David, from the foreground twigs and under growth, to the far bank of trees. The opposite bank foliage certainly looks frosted! I think your charcoal drawings are beautiflly done, wish I had the patience and talent.

Superb drawing, with excellent tonal work and detail.

The question which will be uppermost in everybody's mind is "how does he do it?". To which the answer is likely to be, take the materials listed - charcoal, graphite, conté crayon, pastel, coloured pencil - and try it yourself. And the best of British luck - because the missing ingredient there is decades of experience. Someone questioned my assertion on the Forum that drawing was more difficult than painting - this is the sort of thing I had in mind: I could paint the above scene, but I seriously doubt that I could draw it even if I had the vast amount of patience required.

It's an inspiring piece of work, because it DOES make one want to have a go at achieving the same level of competence and artistry: but I hope for my own sake I don't try.......

Well, you have made me look again at hedgerows and general undergrowth as I walk along our country lanes David and I can see how excellent this is . I can feel that morning frost ! Brrrr!
