Nothing wrong with this David, smashing drawing of shapes rather than lines. Good exercise. The paper maybe a touch rough for the pencil if you want to get smoother shapes.

Soup bowl and spoon. I recently read a series of articles in Artist magazine by a rather challenging author (cant remember who) who said that a good way to learn to draw is to observe form and draw without outlines, draw the spaces left after the object has gone, if you like. I was rather taken by this. So, sat down after mu lunch and bashed this out - never done this before so I can see where it might be improved but I would still appreciate critique. I think the actual drawing is too small thus preventing me from adding (or rubbing out) details that add convincing form...but even so I am startled at the effect and the end result. Im probably using the wrong pencils (2b) and the wrong paper (an unknown NOT water colour paper)
