I think theres only so much fettling can done to a pigs ear!

David, you have placed your tonal contrasts in the right place, lightest in the background, darker in the foreground, a good start. The darker under colour of the clouds could be lighter and I don't think you need to be told that by me or anyone else :) Don't forget you can also use the pencils when the paper is still wet to give more depth and/or drama to your work. All this will come with experience. Carry on the good work. When I started with the wc pencils I too found then difficult to manage.

Never underestimate a piece of work David, it is how we learn. And thank you CA Jones for those tips as they will also help me with my watercolour pencils.

Great improvement David, CA is correct about the clouds, but you could counteract them by some strong shapes in the lower half. More undulations in the earth, the odd boulder?

Thanks Derek, yes it needs something inventing. It also suggests I am somewhere up in a balloon or helicopter...still, at least Im learning!
