I think you have made a really good job, I love the eyes, reminds me of my daughter's dog, Bronson who sadly is no longer with us.

Thanks Linda. Its been a hard piece this but if there's one good thing, then I also think it's the eyes. Actually, everyone here says I have captured his face well...and at the end of the day, that's the job done. It was also fun. I am now banned from anymore Yagi portraits...we have four!

Those eyes are so pleading....can you throw my ball. He’s lovely.

Oh my comment has vanished.... those PO L gremlins again. It’s worked well David, black dogs are really hard to do. I love his eyes .

You’ve done a terrific job of a difficult colour in animals , I have to agree about the eyes, they are excellently painted David.

Great job David, he has that soulful lab look all right. I like the way you have varied the black with the light on the left side.

A very good result David. The darker area under his chin really pulls his face forward.

Lovely portrait, David!

You finished it! Well done David, Yagi looks great. Very hard painting a black dog - I'm going to have another go of my black cocker next. You may be interested to look at Bonny Snowdon on YouTube, she mainly uses pencils but she has done a black lab which I watched this morning. She uses a lot of different colours in her work and she's very clever.

Great portrait, David, and the eyes are so soulful and intelligent. Bri

Yagi is my black lab...black dogs are difficult but an enjoyable challenge. Painted on a canvas given to me by the late Derek Snowdon. About 18"x30
