I like it as it is Dave, it gives you the feeling that anything could be through the mist? The foggy look on the left makes you want to stay this side of it!

I agree with Fiona: I would leave it like that. It makes it very special. Excellent painting!

I like it too!

Indeed, i like this too. If you really feel a need to do something, try croping the photo to remove a bit of the left side. If you like the result in the photo, then you can cut that amount off the actualpainting. But I don't see why you would!

I really like this painting and I agree that there is an air of mystery about the left side of the composition. It isn't necessary to tell us everything in a painting - let the viewer work a few things out for themselves. Your trees and rocks are really good as well.

Agree with everyone, this is a beautiful piece...

It is a lovely painting, and you don't have to finish off everything to the nth degree, as of course you know. It has the air of an unanswered question as it stands - call it your Unfinished Symphony....

Thanks so much for your comments....I have left it open for interpretation,as I think you were all right.

It works really well, Dave. The balance in the painting is quite exquisite. Thank you too for your very kind comments on my paintings.

I can hear the voices of art teachers saying that ' it needs something on the left because the eye is pulled to the right of the picture only ' or 'crop it' : ) However , I may have succumbed and put a shadowy figure in the mist but I think that you have dared to challenge the rules of composition and public opinion seems to think that you are right, Its a nice piece but I'm going to swim against the tide and go with the old masters sorry.

Well done, I may have been tempted to strengthen the sky slightly top left but fine as is.

an empty peaceful place in the middle of nowhere it's perfect, mate leave it alone and walk away. class.

Thankyou all for your inspiring comments......really appreciated

I know exactly how you feel re the balance of the composition of this picture, but I suggest you leave it alone. If you now insert something on the left, a figure for example or a misty tree, you will finish up with a picture that you did not intend to paint. (Try a two minute sketch of the above painting and insert a balancing component on the left and you will see what I mean). This picture works for me, and many others, as it is. It is beautiful and you have a fascinating gallery.
