Lovely head and body. Great skin tones but the arms look foreshortened and the hands too big. Her left arm in particular looks too short. This is the problem with painting from photos. Could you bring the elbow down to waist level and take the forearm up to the hand?

Good eye Diane. Yes, great suggestions. This piece could benefit from a reworking session. I really struggled getting the hands the right size, esp. since this was done from a photo. Also, the skin tones were off. I wanted the skin to have a rosier tint to it. This really caused me some anxiety when I had this in a coffee shop a month ago. Thank you for your comments!

I finished this oil on canvas last April just in time to hang it in a local coffee shop in Denver, CO. It took about 4 mths to complete. Lots of positive responses, although the shop owner thought it was a little too sexy for some. Oh well... I was trying to be experimental with my backgrounds. Going through a slight depressive period, so I wanted to use brighter colors to help my mood. It helps- I feel better when I look at it. I used a photo of a model friend and did my best to get a decent likeness. I love the challenge of mixing oils- rarely do I get exactly the same response from the paints in a session. Just part of the fun I guess...
