Very nice piece indeed I wouldn't have taken you for a beginner...lovely colours

Lovely use of colour in the girl and love the folds in the skirt and imagine it was difficult to paint, think we are beginners for ever Patsy :)

Stunning oil portrait, I keep promising myself I'll learn how to use oils, maybe one day!

Thanks ladies- I really love painting women. I have favorite celebrities ive practiced drawing over the years in graphite & paper . Maybe I'll post them up later. Theres something about the human form that intrigues me. Oils are great too. Such a challenging medium! If you havent tried it yet, I recommend taking a class at any local school or get a good book on it. I taught myself oils, but Ive taken pastel course at the Art Students League in Denver, CO. Theres a small but great art scene here. Cheers...

I painted this piece in oil on canvas about a year ago. I used a photo of a model and added details along the way. The piece took longer than I thought it would. I was teaching my self how to do oils and wanted the challenge of a good portrait. I still consider myself to be a beginner at painting.
