There’s something fascinating about old buildings or objects. The peeling paint, rusting locks etc. I like this one…I have a great one I’ve been meaning to paint for ages….

Thank you all for the encouragement. I was particularly pleased to have 3x submissions accepted by the judges, as this was the first time I had ever entered such an event.

Divetio da Sosta – 'No Stopping (tow-away zone)' – Italiano. It refers to the sign on the garage doors (not in Italy!). I was tried to reproduce the interesting textures and atmosphere of the buildings. One of three paintings submitted to the CWSA exhibition at The Herbert (art gallery & museum(, Coventry, to be exhibited throughout February 2024. All three paintings were excepted: I was pleasantly stunned (my first ever submissions).

I worked in the construction industry for many years, and then architecture. I have recently taken up painting, creating compositions from urban scenes; with particular attraction to dilapidated old buildings; they have interesting decaying textures.
