I love this Christine - in particular the splatter effect you have used - may I ask how you did it? Also, did you do the background first, or after the hares? Thanks, Heather

Thankyou. This is the first time I have put a picture up as I,ve only just joined, so it's exciting to get a response so fast. I drew the hares, then masked off with that smelly horrid masking fluid which I find very usefull the outline of the hares to ensure the bacgroung wouldnt seep into them. I then spattered with masking, trying mostly to avoid the drops landing on the hares. For spattering I use such thinge as toothbrushes, sometimes I sculpt the bristles with scissors to effect different effects. I dip the brush into the masking fluid thenrub my thumb over it to make it splash onto the paper in a random natuaralistic fassion.

Thanks folks. Ive returned over and again to this unforgiving medium thinking that if I have the technical ability to make it work for me then I will finally be ready to express whatever it is i want to say through painting. What I feel Iv'e leared from it is that I have to work with it and let it behave as water behaves naturally within the parrameters I set, and water has its own way of moveing, evaporating and leaving behind sediment or in this case pigment. Ofcourse Iv'e been fast-tracked by a couple of great books by Eva Karinska and Nita Engle. I reccomend you read them. One day I hope to reach their levels of expertise. Heather you have a great sense of tonal compossition I think, never heard of the mediums you uase, but I fully intend to branch out and will let you know the results. I will now look to see if I can find work by the rest of you. cheers loads, is this what they call blogging? this is brilliant.

And so many women artists, not like the old days when we were expected to eaither scrub laundry or do unnotworthy needle poin(not that Iv'e got anything against needlepoint, or cleaning, vey valid occupations, just the lack of recognition women have had in history)
