I keep seeing this pop up on the gallery page. And because I am a bit of a purist re animal pics . ( I only use my own material, ( have a lion in the bottom of my garden) I have tried not to comment. But I cannot keep away. He is an utter delight, , you have made a lovely painting , he is doing what happy lions do best...just alyin around. His face is priceless. I just think he is great.

What a pussy cat he looks! Bet he is not though. Lovely portrait - conveys such a feeling of a relaxed and contented lion.

Thank you for your kind comments! I have to be honest - it is a lioness, a "she"! Still, we do refer to both lion and lioness as lions when speaking gerenally.

Our art group had an excellent tutorial last week on painting in a loose style with the emphasis on light and dark. This is a result of the excercise given to us. Painted wet on dry. Colours used were raw sienna, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and a dash of alizarin
