I also work a lot from photos and always endeavor to cheer them up - once i have established the composition in pencil or ink I then disregard the photo and paint the scene how I see it in my minds eye - one of the reasons why I go against the general advice and do not do much en plein air work where I am usually influenced to paint exactly what is in front of me.
