OIL PAINTING NO 8

OIL PAINTING NO 8

I really like this. You have managed to achieve different shades of green - and I can imagine it would be very 'lush' in summer. And for 'only your 8th' oil painting' I think you've done a grand job! Can I ask please - you say it's on Saunders Waterford - did you have to 'prime' that in some way first?

Lovely painting Charles, beautiful palette colour

Super painting Charles, particularly like the tumbling water you have painted, feel I could dip my toe in it - I must resist as I might splash water on the keyboard! If this is only your eighth oil, you must learn quickly, like Petra.

Very sorry but I did not mean any harm, I signed up on these pages yesterday, I had it for a couple of images that can be loaded at once. My English is not very good, but now I know and it will not happen. I was looking at your pictures are gorgeous, the style of play of colors. evoking much I like

Charles, I like your greens - if you want to tone them down, I'm sure you know how: using French Ultramarine or Cobalt Blue to start with, rather than Pthalo or Prussian, and a softer yellow... But the sharpness of your greens, and the reds and oranges that are usually to be found in your paintings, are becoming your trademarks: sure, aim to refine things, but the greens you get are a consequence of the palette of colours you use - and that is as personal to you as your signature. I'd have been happy, by the way, to have painted this one now, never mind as my 8th oil painting. I see you're still using watercolour paper - presumably (I know you told us this before, but my memory ain't what it was!) primed with acrylic: you're more than ready to move on to canvas: assuming, of course, that you'd want to.

Charles this is a great picture and hard to believe it es only your 8th oil. On the question of greens - in watercolours I tend to use hookers or sap green which I invariably knock back with raw sienna, ultrarmaine blue, raw sienna and/or paynes grey - but then I don't paint trees in the same vibrant way in which you do with such success. Great painting.

Brilliant Charles....love the water.

Another excellent painting, especially just using a mostly green palette, which I think is the hardest colour to use,

Absolutely not too green! And no one would guess this was your 8th oil. And your running water is really superb. Another magnificent work, Charles! Thank you too for all your very kind comments on my paintings.

Master of greenery! Great summery countryside Charles.

I love your charcoal paintings but you excel with woodland colour in Oil or Acrylic, nothing wrong with those greens Charles.

You have a fantastic gallery here and I do like this one too. Love those greens!

Painted on Saunders Waterford 300lb rough 12"x 8" -- This is the waterfall that is right at side of road in Wildboarclough Derbyshire. The greens in this area are very lush in summer, So if anyone thinks the greens are to bright, tough I am happy at the moment --- This is only my 8th oil painting, All will come ok in the end
